It says that you'll have focusing problems if the lens isn't mounted PERFECTLY. Is it hard to mount this thing perfectly? adn when mounted, will it stay there, or is there a possibility that it'll suddenly rotate slightly while filming?

'Scuze me, joining in the discussion late...

Set all fear aside and BUY the anamorphic adapter! I've been using mine for five months or so now and can't shoot a 4x3 frame anymore.

I routinely watch my DVX footage on my 50" Sony Wega TV, and it's almost impossible to tell the difference between the DVX and a really good, 35mm originated DVD. Not quite as good as HD, but you'd be surprised by how close it is.

My two cents:
-Stay away from extreme wide or extreme zoom
-Work at high F-stops. It's tough to get good shallow DOF with it, but not impossible
-It's WAY better than using in-camera 16x9
-pull out your credit card and throw caution to the wind. You won't regret it.

Just got it in the mail today. Pretttty nice, although right now, i can't see it unsqueezed on my production monitor just yet because, guess what.......... the sony pvm14L1(? somethign like that) monitor that i got has bnc connectors, not rca, so i can't plug from the dvx into the monitor. So, i had to order some male-bnc to female-rca connectors that'll becoming in shortly...

sucks, but oh well, no big deal.

Re: 16:9 anamorphic adaptor smaples and specs?

The adapter does give you a 33% wider field of view, yes.

So basically if I get this adapter, it kinda functions as a wide-angle lens as well? How does it compare in that regard to a seperate wide-angle lens?

Sorry, I don't know much about these kinds of things. :)

Re: 16:9 anamorphic adaptor smaples and specs?

It'll give you a 33% wider angle on the horizontal plane, not the vertical.
