15mm rods. Anyone now a good supplier?

if you have an extra microphone stand not used anymore, try checking the adjustable rod that holds the mic holder, the rod that is the horizontal line in the "T".

I measured ours at 15mm.

ok so i bought some of those slurpee metal straws from 7-11 they seem like they would be the right size to work but i havent got a chance to try it out yet so if any one already has a rail system do u mind trying this out. the straws only cost like $2

Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone new a supplier for 15 mm support rods. It just seems that $100.00 is a bit pricey fro something so simple and inxepesive a a little aluminum or stainless steel. Any thought would be appreciated?
Thanks
Whit

The reason why so expensive is because of the process of how they are made. There is more involved then a normal alu. rods or steel.

So the 24" stainless are $55 US or $70 International? Does that mean chipping is included? How much for the 24" CF? I'm in Canada but have a US address. Also, I heard the cavision or Cinevate are not true 15mm. Are these? IOW, do they fit standard mounts?

yes shipping is included in that price, granted they are sold out right now. the stainless are 15mm, and the carbon are as well, although carbon rods can fluctate about .1 mm across rod because of laquer finishing which is sprayed on and can be ever so slightly thicker or thinner. either way they all fit standard 15mm fittings, but everything is sold out right now.

Cinevate has been a source of 15mm CF rods in the past, they were solid (rather than hollow) but more reasonably priced than other places.

I don't understand why these are so expensive, it's just a tube of CF, nothing all that complicated. Must be economies of scale.

Guys if interested I can get 100% solid carbon fiber rods right on the nose at 15mm. What are the lengths you'd like to see (6" 12" 25" etc..) ?

12" - $70.00 (not including shipping or paypal fees)

18" - $100.00 (not including shipping or paypal fees)

PM me if you're interested and I'll get my machinist to extrude them for you. He can also do 19mm rods if needed.

6-foot, not 6-inches. So I can cut four 18-inch pieces from it.

I would love to hear if they work & how you cut them.

The cheapest deals I have found so far are:

Letus aluminum "extensions" which really just means their set of rods. If you buy the shortest kind, the 15cm, they come with couplers (V1) or male threads on one side (V2). Otherwise, both ends are female.
15cm - $49
30cm - $74
45cm - $84

Redrock, slightly more expensive but come in carbon fiber or stainless steel.
12" - $89
18" - $99
