150 slo mo footage

We all gotta start somewhere right? ha
So excuse the lame question...

I had used a friends hvx200 a few months back to shoot some MX and that's what got me into video, so I got a 150 yesterday after selling some camera gear to fund the purchase. Anyways, on his hvx200 I remember setting a dial for 60p, and when played back on camera, it would be in slo mo. You can not do this 'preview' on the 150 right? only while doing your edits on the computer, slowing it down manually?

Thanks!

Correct. Shoot in 720/60p mode, then in your editor either use FCP's Cinema Tools to "conform" your 60p footage to 24p, or play your footage back on your 24p timeline at 40% speed.

Yes. As you get started with the HMC it's a relatively good idea to shoot everything in "PH" 720/60P. This allows for maximum flexibility in slowing down what you want to slow down, and not slowing down what you don't want to slow down.

If you want the 24p "film look," simply export your final production to a 23.976 frame rate -- and that should work very well (won't work with "30p" etc.).

Being able to capture everything in 60p offers a tremendous flexibility for options in post production -- frankly, even more options than being able to select specific frame rates on the HVX.

Good luck!

Ok, so I fired up FCP, got the clip in via log and transfer, put clip on time line...now is the slow mo effect done simply by APPLE-J to get the SPEED window popup and modifying it to 40% etc....?
It worked, but just making sure this is the correct workflow.
Thanks again

That's exactly what I do, and it works great. And, it's as simple as it gets. Maybe the other workflows have advantages, I don't know.
