14mm wide on AF100 vs the HVX200 wide?

So after crop factor, 14mm on AF100 = 28mm equivalent. On the HVX200's 4.5mm lens, it's also 28mm film equivalent for the lens.

Does the wide angle have the same field of view/look the same? If not, how does it differ? Any comparison pictures/videos, or even just a video at the 14mm wide of the AF100 to compare?

Also, if it's different, would anyone be able to help me understand why? Thanks!!

The FoV should be identical, or damn close. If you're looking for wider and faster for an AF100, check out the SLR Magic 12mm f/1.6. Impressive little bugger.

Looks like a great lens! Couple questions:

- Is there a non MFT lens (say a Nikon or something) that may be a better investment (in the sense that MFT will be used with my AF100... a standard 35mm lens I could continue to use down the road with newer cameras)? Or will MFT lenses mount just fine future camera rigs?
- Is 12mm that much wider than 14mm? I know as focal lengths get shorter the change is much more dramatic, but I have an Olympus 14mm-54mm that's 2.8 @ 14mm. No doubt this is better, but is it that much of a wider FOV? Should I look for something more like a 7mm or 8mm such as the lumix 7-14mm? (of course, that one's f4 I believe, so much slower...)

Thanks for the feedback. $500 for that SLR magic lens isn't too bad of a price either! Of course, I'm poor. Would love to find something on KEH from Minolta or Nikon or what not that I could use!

I think for wide MFT mounts are a good chioce. The crop kills the 35mm lenses for wide angles. The Tokina 11-16 might work for you. Its rated pretty high around here and even on Red cameras as well as other pro PL mount cams.

The hvx200 wasn't 28mm equiv. I can't remember exactly what it was but it was more like 32mm.

The hpx170/250 are 28mm equiv.

I'm using Canon FD lenses w/my AF100. The 11-18 Tokina lens you mention, what is the lens mount and/or adaptor needed with that lens? Thanks.

With a good clean setting for high ISO, I'm having trouble finding a situation the Lumix 7-14 won't handle.

so, a 35mm FF lens has a 2x crop factor. So let's say I pickup a 28mm lens that was maybe for a FF sensor, it effectively becomes 56mm focal length. BUT, what if I get a 28mm lens for an MFT mount... did just the mount change and it still looks like a 56mm lens would look on a FF camera? Or does it look like a 28mm lens would look on the FF camera?

Any 50mm will show the exact same FOV as any other 50mm when used one one particular camera. 50mm = 50mm no matter what format it was made for.

Put any 50mm lens (c-mount, full frame, cinema, m43, whatever) on an af100, then swap it for any of the others, and it will look the same.

When a lens is made for a smaller chip it means that it will project a smaller circle of illumination. Put a 50mm c-mount lens on a full frame camera and you'll see a small circle of picture in the middle of a huge sea of black.

But it's not the pens that crops the image. Sensor size crops the image out of the full image that the lens projects.
