anyone see it yet? if so how was it, was it more of a thriller or mystery. I know it's not a horror, but i've heard there are jump scenes and the trailer looks like a thriller and some what of a little mystery.

Saw it...It's no SHINING. A little overwrought for my tastes. At times I thought it was silly. Less is more in these types of horror films. The horror you don't see is always scarier than the one you do. Cusack holds it together, though.

I want to see this today... but the only thing that worries me is the pg-13 rating. My nephew saw the movie yesterday and he had trouble judging the movie due to a theater full of 13 year old girls who would scream at EVERYTHING... even ordinary actions!

I'm tempted to give this a couple weeks to die down, but I don't know if I can wait... but at the same time I've been to so many movies that are completely RUINED by an inconsiderate and immature audience.

It's a shame that this type of bullsh*t can't be reeled in by the theater owners.

I never thought about the R rating in this context before my nephew put it so simply... now I think every movie should have a cumpulsory breast shot in the opening credits just to keep the children at home.

Saw it, loved it, thought it was great! Just one of those movies where it's hard to explain to another why it wasn't a horror or thriller or something, but just very good.

The acting was great!

Saw it. Acting was good. Everything else was mediocre. At one point I almost laughed (silly/cheesy). Felt like "Cast Away" sometimes, aka boring. In the middle I felt like I was watching another one of those tom hanks talks to a volleyball scenes. :)

You sure nailed it.

The theatre I saw it in was full of tweeners and, you guessed it, crying babies!

That's 'babies' plural, as in in more than one. If I had to guess though, I'd say more like three or four. God, I love children. Their constant whailing just reinforced my hope that one day I too would start a family and I could have the privilege of taking my baby to a scary movie and share my joy with everyone!

YAY!!!

My fav part of the film was when the tweeners were talking on their cell phones and giggling at all the scary parts. I especially loved it when they went ''ahhhhh'' during the emotional scenes.

Luckily they all sat in a two seat perimeter around me, so I could listen to it in sorround sound!

Yay!!!!!

Fortunately for me, my seat was never kicked, not even once. They were all kind enough to kick off their shoes and prop up their feet on the tops of the seats. I'm tall though, thank God, so only the pad of the foot and the toes blocked out my view.

I was also pleasently surprised to fond that it was an interactive movie as well. I was a bit too shy to join in, but the lovely group of people in the back row were eager to join in on the fun!

"Oh no he di' 'int!"
"Wat cha bak, boi!"
"Damn! N!&&@ got JACKED UP!"
"Yooza had core mu-fu-ka yo!"

YAY!!!!!

I have to give props to the projectionist though. He is very very creative. Some projectionists just sit on their a$$ and show the movie as it was meant to be seen. But my projectionist decided to inject his own litle flavor into the picture by showing the print slightly out of focus, underlit, AND at the incorrect aspect ratio. He evem went the whole nine yards by tinkering with the speakers so they would crackle in and out every 15 minutes or so. Now that's service!

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

And I got all of this and more for only $10! What a bargain. I would have payed $20 if they asked for it. Even their $7 drinks and $8 popcorn were dirt cheap. And that soggy hot dog I got...mmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmm goooooood!

Their friendy and helpfull staff was the cherry on top.

I love going to the theatre!

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And if you think for an instant that I am embelishing the truth here, I assure that I am not. This was my exact movie going experience on Friday.

I saw it. Expected better because it's getting some good reviews. I thought it was super lame. Thin on story, Lots of weird, sloppy loose ends in the story (and I'm not talking "ambiguous" in an arty sense--just things that seemed undone/undeveloped). It was scary in parts when it got going. But I sure didn't care about anybody.

There will be spoilers in this review.

Here's the thing with movies like this. They're so easy to set up (and the set up for this one was great - that scene with Jackson trying to convince Cusack not to take the room was really well done) and so extremely difficult to finish off. And boy does this movie stumble in the end.

I believe the main reason this movie failed is because of the prevailing "film school" teachings these days which promote character development over story. Don't get me wrong. Character development is important. But had they strayed away from that in this movie, and focused more on the mythology of the room, they could've had something great.

Okay, Cusack lost his daughter to cancer and is estranged from his wife. We know that within 20 minutes of the movie. That's it! That's all we need to know! Done! The more information they gave us about that storyline, the less interesting it became. And since it began driving the entire storyline, the movie became very boring very fast.

Sometimes you just gotta say "f*ck character development" because what was really cool about this movie was the mythology of that room. Why did people die in there? Why had it become the way it had become? Who were the people that died? Who was this person who kept trying to kill Cusack? Why? What? Where? Tell me more about the room. Create a story around THAT. But they didn't. And then we get some weird ending where Cusack starts a fire and THAT is somehow the magic wand that allows him to escape what everybody else has succombed to. Give me a break.

Great setup. Terrible payoff. But overall some pretty cool scenes and worth checking out.

spoiler.
c.g eads, since the whole room craziness was in his mind he used the 2 things he brought with him; The lighter and booz sam jack gave him. Thats why it worked. And i think they aluded to sam jack doing it on purpose.

I thought it was fairly solid...not quite as menacing as the short story was, but did indeed have it's cheesy moments.

Spoilers.

I didn't like the flickery film grainy people. I understand that the room was messing with him, but it looked a little too contrived and way too CG-ey. I really really didn't like the "fake waking up in the hospital" false ending...that rambled on toooo much.

*shrug*

Decent flick though.

Just caught the flick. Loved it. Really had me at the edge of my seat all the way through! Still have unanswered questions, which is cool.

I rather enjoyed it. I thought the trailer would have spoiled everything for me, but I actually followed along at the edge of my seat.

I found it particularly interest how they portrayed Cusack's character as a skeptic. Coincided with some odd events in my own personal life. (my brother claiming to have seen ghosts, etc.)

*****Spoiler*******

I absolutely agree, it really made the people look less menacing and more like a cheesy ghost movie in these parts, making the people look real would have been much more scary

I actually quite liked the ending with the daughters voice and some scenes inside the room were quite good eg the wall cracking. As a whole I thought the movie did lack though
