Re: $14 steadycam

It's actually been posted many times before but there's lots of people joining this board all the time so some of them, I'm sure, haven't seen it. ;D

Re: $14 steadycam

I made my glidecam/steadycam for free. And it works like a charm. I post up some clips soon. I'll give you the specs on how to make it. But let me tell you it takes practice to get it right. It looks ugly but it works!

Re: $14 steadycam

That looks very heavy! Metal pipes?

actually its all made out of wood. I call it the Brittney cam because of all the Brittney spears stickers we put on it. That wasn't my idea though. Now everyone can get a hold of Brittney. ;D

Re: $14 steadycam

Has anyone made this $14 steadycam? How well does it work? Anyone got any feedback? tim.

Re: $14 steadycam

Not true gimbal, just a counterweight set-up. But it's simple to make and effective in a primitive way. For an hours time to make and less than 20 bucks, it's a lot better than handheld. The one in Dan Selakovich's book has gimbal I believe. It's more complicated to make, but more versatile. I highly recommend the book, as it has a lot of other stuff for the DIYer in it as well. You can see af ew pages of that book, and some clips of the rigs in action at the site:

Re: $14 steadycam

hmm.. I'm wondering... will an XL2 fit on one of those $cheap$ steady cams? I'm doing a music video with an XL2 soon and we're using a lot of steadycam. Our budget is $14 :)
