14-42mm Lens Just Arrived...Test

Not a big deal for most people here, but I just received my 14-42mm lens for my GH2...so small, so light. I've been using only manual primes since I got my GH2 in December and getting used to all these auto focus features will take some time. I do like it so far though. It's nice to just slap it on in P, A, S, or Ai mode and just go shoot. It's very very wide, at least what I'm used to with my manual primes, so that has already come in handy.

I ordered it 4 days ago from Panasonic Direct using my discount and it said Back Ordered for 5 weeks, and boom, here it arrives today, 4 days after I ordered it...weird but I'll certainly take it of course.

I just shot a test video which features the 14mm part of the lens. My first slo-mo effort. It's about 10 secs long.

Meet Blizzard: The Amazing Ricocheting Cat

It's a bit dark now that I look at it. I guess that's due to this len's f3.5 max aperture. I had the ISO at 1600 to help. Of course, if I had cared to, I would have lit it better but as with most of my tests I'm too eager just to see what it looks like.

How did you get the second shot of the closeup to the wall? It looks like a lower angle than the original shot...

Anyway, for 1600iso, that looked very nice. Very much looking forward to shooting video with this thing!

Thanks for looking. As for the second shot, that was simply a separate shot, from a low angle. I matched where the cat ricocheted from the first clip with where she was just coming off the wall in the second clip. So, I had to get Blizzard to do the ricochet two times, which isn't hard as she enjoys doing it.
