GH2 14-42 Kit Lens Issue

When I originally built my Camera rig I had an Opteka Follow focus, But I recently upgraded to the New Kamerar FF-3. I used to use Rubber Bands on the 14-42 to have the Follow Focus Grip it, and that worked fine with the old Opteka, but Now I am running into a problem. The way the new follow focus is built there is a gap between the Follow focus and the lens. I was thinking about getting one of these - http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produ...DAS000K17_CIADAS000K17_Follow_Focus_Gear.html - But I don't know if it will work well. Any help?

You're supposed to have a gear or ring on the lens anyways- wasn't the focusing action "notchy" with the gear directly on the lens (even with rubber bands to dampen it a bit)?

It looks like that Cinevate ring will definitely solve the problem, but a more compact solution would be the "zip-tie" style lens gears.

It was. But I got by. The Bands did a fairly decent Job. The only thing I worry about with the Zip Gear Style is not having enough length to turn the entire length round. That I would run out of gear. I have one of the Cheap eBay Zip Gears and I run out on that one. Does anyone know any others that would turn infinitely like that? As well. Has anyone run into this issue considering most lenses in the MFT spectrum are fly by wire?

Seriously, get a manual lens..... Rokinon are some of the best low cost primes, cheaper than that go Nikkor. If you need zoom lenses though look for some more vintage push pull lenses, some are expensive other's not.

My suggestion though, is to learn to shoot using prime lenses. The good zoom lenses offer a lot of flexibility , but cost a lot more.

I'm Slowly Building a Set of Primes. And for Doing Cinema Work that works fine. I already have a Minolta MC Rokkor 50 1.4. It just takes time to build the right set of Prime lenses. The Biggest reason I want a Zoom lens is for filming weddings. I can't easily switch out focal lengths like I can in a controlled environment and usually don't have the ability to move around a ton to reframe a shot. So Thats Why I've kept using the Kit Lens.
