quick question. after being looking and reading i have come to make my mind up in these 2 solutions. i use video mainly, and still of course. don't care to change lenses if i gaon some quality. what is your opinion? :)

i add that i located both the solution on a onlòine 2 hand market for almost the same price. 400 euro for 14 140 and 360 euro for the combo

The 14-45mm is very compact, while the 14-140mm gives you the range of an ENG camera.

I still use my 14-45mm on my B-roll camera, but I sold my 14-140mm after one month because my lens was not smooth when zooming.

The new 2nd generation 14-140mm looks interesting, and I may buy one if the zoom is smooth.

i don't understand ENG camera....what is meant? anyway i will buy 45 200 in combo with it. and can't wait till the secondo 14 140, as i just bought gh3..and i have no lens to use with :)

ENG = Electronic News Gathering, which essentially means a video camera with a long zoom range that is very quick to work with.

ok, compared to the second possibility that require to change lens. so for this reason you would choose 14 140?

There are no bad choices. Just pick the one that suits how you work.
i haven t experimented a consistent way of work yet, being almost a beginner...so i need to know what experience people find as vantage or diadvantage and building my opinion ...yesy theory yet before practice :)

If I was a beginner starting out, I would choose the 14-45mm and the 45-200mm combo. Both are good lenses for beginners.

The 45-175mm lens is a parfocal lens ( keeps focus while zooming ), I don't think the 45-200mm lens is.

Some people are reporting problems with the OIS ( stabilizer ) on the 45-175mm lens. ( I've never shot with this lens so I can't confirm this )

yes ai have read about, though i don't know about...or if it i solved by firmware updateoveralla quality should be better anyway, it cost me new even a bit less than 45 200..this latter also has weird report, like if depend on unit, some are very happy other not at all

atually i was wondering in what that hd mean. noone consider it and make a choice between the option only for useability or other things..not for the hdwhat is rellay meant for hd?

I have to say that I love the 14-140mm (I have the first version). Yes it has its limitations, it's slow and doesn't have a constant aperture. I don't typically zoom during a shot unless I'm repositioning - and as someone mentioned above, it's all about how you personally work. It's a great outside walk-around lens. Pretty versatile and underrated in my view.

ok some update
i have now 14 45 in my hand and for what i paid (100 euro) it is ok. It gives the possibility to start to understand the camera for little
Now i have alrerady an Agreement to get th 45 175 for still a good price and probably i ll get within the next few days. 14 140 it very useful for covering big range without change anything..but as new version is expected, i will wait for the new or for the old for a bargain price when new is out
Yesterday reading around about cheap old lens to use with gh3 through adapter,(it was on phihlipbloom site) i have read about canon FD series and particolary i see a video in which they would suggest Canon fd n 35-105 f 3,5/4,5 as cheap and fast lens to use in internal enviroment with more effectivenees than 14 140
Actually i have found this lens for almost nothing 50 euro. And i am really tempted to get it. May be in addition to the other 2..ad it sits in the middle range that go from 14 to 175..but it may help in darker situation
what do you think of this?

Canon FD lenses are great, but make sure you buy a good quality adapter. Here are the adapters that I recommend. Made from one solid piece of metal...

ciecio7 Canon FD Micro 4/3 Adapter : $51 on eBay

ciecio7 Canon FD Micro 4/3 Adapter with Tripod Mount : $90 on eBay

ok in whatmake the difference the adpater quality?

one more,as i have seen differnt model of fd 35 100 or beter with such a big differencein price, would you give a look to the one i have found?
http://www.subito.it/fotografia/canon-fd-new-zoom-35-105-mm-f-3-5-4-5-mantova-64378908.htm

i have read that id very good but f doesn seems so low and i am concernedit is not the one i have read about

A good Micro 4/3 lens adapter should be solid with a tight fit, so that nothing wiggles. The tripod adapter is very useful for larger lenses, otherwise you are putting a lot of strain on the camera mount to hold a lens that may be heavier than your camera.

The ciecio7 adapters have been around for several years now and they are precision made out of one solid piece of Duraluminum (AW-7075).
