Here's my scenario:
I wish to record Adv. Pulldown footage back to the DVX via firewire. I added 2:3:3:2 pulldown to the finished 23.98 movie using DVFilmmaker. I then placed that new footage into a 60i timeline set to use non-dropframe timecode. NDF timecode is the right choice if I wish to retrieve a progressive 23.98 movie later, right?
Here's the part I hadn't thought of until now:
The DVX needs to be set to NDF timecode as well, right?
So, I went into the VCR Menu as follows:
MENU - VCR FUNCTIONS - #2 RECORDING SETUP - TC MODE - DF or NDF
And, set the DVX to NDF to match my FCP timeline.
HOWEVER, and this is the question, there is another menu option under:
MENU - VCR FUNCTIONS - #2 RECORDING SETUP - 1394 TC REGEN - ON or OFF
When ON is selcted, the options below turn blue indicating they are locked and cannot be changed.
The question is, which is the correct menu option to set the DVX to when I wish to record 2:3:3:2 from a non-dropframe timeline back to tape via firewire?
If you're still with me after that long post, thanks!
