Hi everyone, i just got my hvx200 this afternoon, and wasted no time i made some test shots. i tried to offload the clips from p2 card to my pc and then i found out that seems hvx200 only support USB con nection for a pc to offload p2 stuff , 1394 is designed only for Mac?? everytime i connect it to the computer the hvx lcd shows"1394 disconnected". however there is one time i did saw an extra drive appears and i even opeded it found all the clips, however when i try to copy and past one of the clip to my local drive it seems gonna take more than 50 minutes...thats definitely not right.
havent got my laptop with a pcmcia slot yet. should i buy a usb cable to connect it to my pc ?

thank you all for the help.

Yes, the P2 drivers use IEEE 1384 on the Mac and USB on the PC. Install the P2 drivers, press the MODE button to switch from RECORD to MCR mode, and then press and hold the MODE button for another two seconds to initiate a USB connection.

You can still stream DVCProHD and dub using Firewire, but mounting the P2 cards as drives on your PC is done using a USB cable.

i've been using a usb cable on my mac... works.. most of the time.. although sometimes it doesn't mount both the cards..

not sure why i havent used firewire yet. just lazy.

The manual spells it out, folks: USB is not guaranteed to work on the Mac, but it is guaranteed to work on Windows. Firewire is guaranteed to work on the Mac, but is not guaranteed to work on Windows.
