12V Battery

Does anybody have any experience of using a battery like this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12V-6800m...erTools_SM&hash=item3a6bf3d884#ht_2072wt_1037

I plan on using it to run a DP4, Litepanels Mini Plus and a few other items that are capable of running from a 12v supply.

Also does anybody know if it possible to rig up a way of powering my D7000 too?

I don't plan on using them to power multiple items, just one at a time. I will also be thinking about designing a better enclosure for the battery.

I'm not an electronic whizz so somebody must know if its possible to do this?

Check out this thread - http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?254723-Insane!-Power-everything-and-the-kitchen-sink-from-one-v-mount.

That will allow you to power all sorts of things.

Then I would contact Jag35 and see if they are making an adapter for the Nikon D7000, like they did for the 7D/5D and GH2 - http://jag35.com/products/cables/lpe6adaptercable.html

If not, you're other option is to cut the end off a normal barrel plug DC cable, cut the end off this Nikon dummy battery, and then solder positive to positive, negative to negative. The V-mount battery plate I linked first has a 7.2V out; I think the Nikon D7000 requires 7V, so it might be OK to power it from there, but if you want to play it safe, you could just get http://jag35.com/products/cables/stepdowncables.html and connect the input end to the 12V output of the battery plate, dial the output voltage down to 7V, and then plug in the cables you spliced together.

I've done it before with a 7D's AC adapter, but it was not a very rugged connection, and then Jag35 came out with a 12V adapter cable for the camera. I would contact them and see if anything is in the works for the D7000.

I power my setup this way - Canon 7D, DP4, wireless HDMI transmitter, and sometimes a spare monitor are all powered from that battery plate.

Edit: The battery you linked will work for powering individual units, if that's really all you need. The trickiest part will be stepping down the voltage to a dummy battery to power your camera. You can also get a 1-2-way DC cable splitter and connect two accessories at once to your battery.

or quick cheat sheet here. :)

1. V-mount or AB gold mount battery (get the one at 130Wh or 190Wh)

2. http://www.ebay.com/itm/BP-V-Mount-...664?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a687bf298

I use the set up on my FS-100 now. As you can see, i can double mount my battery; hence it will last me for a long time. :D I power my DP4, Lighting, AJA Mini Pro, Wireless mic

When I had a cheap monitor with no battery adapter I used those and they worked fine, they were just a pain in the ass because I had no way to mount them so I either had them in my pocket or just hanging there.

Hello Guys,

Thanks for the insane amount of help! The powering of my camera isn't a massive issue as I can get a few batteries. The D7000 battery is excellent to start with anyway so it should run all day on one or two batts. The main issue is my other accessories that will only run for about 2-4 hours. I just wanted a backup option that would be multifunctional for all of them. The reason I ask about the ebay one is because it looks cheap and lightweight. I don't have £150-200 to pay for another battery and weight is also vital for my next project so this looked like the perfect solution.

It'll work innately for your DP4 and probably your other 12V accessories. In all seriousness, though, contact Jag35 about a D7000 battery adapter.
