Years ago when i bought my Diva's I never thought I'd want to travel abroad with them. Now I will be going to many different countries in different continents.... should have bought the universal model...Guy at B&H told me someone who has used a transformer experienced color issues, specifically he thought it had something to do not with the voltage (which was corrected by the transformer) but with the cycles/hertz (which allegedly wasn't fixed by transformer). He didn't seem 100% confident cause he didn't know exactly what was going on. I called Kino and they are saying it should work fine with a step down transformer. But it's not a risk I can take without hearing from other people.Has anyone with experience using US - 120V video electronics and lights abroad please chime in and give advice? thanks!

I'd go with Kino's advice. Just make sure the step down is decent quality and has enough head room to handle the load.
Also make sure you have the right plug adaptors for the various countries/continents. I used to carry a bunch of adaptors for 'round the world shoots.

Have you looked into having Kino switch the ballasts? I did years ago & it wasn't much more than buying universal ballasts in the first place, but decided not to as I never had luck flying with fluorescent tubes.

You can switch a ballast on a Diva? Not sure if I'd have enough time at this point since I'm flying out in a week and I live in NYC

Should be fine, I've run 120v fluorescents off 240v power via a simple step-down transformer before.
