"12 Suicidal Teens" (2019) is a very interesting Japanese film, the Japanese title "Jûni-nin no shinitai kodomo-tachi".
The outstanding thing about it, is how well it's shot. The shot selection, the camera angles, the framing, movements and other elements are simply outstanding. It's a real pleasure to watch just from this point of view, even if the rest of the movie were not interesting, it would still be worth it in spades. But the film is rather involving. It starts especially well, very intriguing [SPOILERS ALERT! - after this point, there may be spoilers!] right up until you reach the premise, which is not bad either. The choice of actors is very nice and successful in my opinion, the costumes outstanding, and the device of using the hospital nicely isolates the actors without having to go to any other locations or crowd intense places, at the same time it's totally justified without feeling artificial as so many "cabin in the woods" movies feel, where we're always wondering why somebody doesn't call the cops or just leave.
I felt the payoff was somewhat compromised, insofar as it was quite predictable, although there was a tiny twist at the end, which almost rescued the payoff (basically, that this is not the first time the main guy did this gathering). All in all well worth watching.
