Just tried to get an USA GH2 body only on eBay. Bidding was at $950, in last minute bids went up to $1150 and when I tried to enter $1200 my stupid Firefox browser locked up lol! So I didn't win the auction.

There's still some GH2s available at eBay.com . They are cheaper here in Europe but I want a USA model without the 30 minute duration limit.

I think smaller Mom and Pop stores are the way to go.... I had an order with Adorama and PD for months and cancelled them both when i found a GH2 kit at Kenmore Camera in Washington State. They shipped it to me in Chicago and i had it by the end of the week. You might pay a little bit more, but i've been shooting for the last month an loving it. (they even had extra batteries in stock!)

Good luck!

I also encounter some post mention that the Pal European version has a 30 minute limit record time. I would like to prove that wrong. I had tested and recorded over 1 hour 1 clip shot. My is pal, a PAL logo written on outside box also. Unless I hacked my own GH2, just kidding! :)

Khina, you may be right, I actually never tested it in my GH2, I just assumed it was there. I am sure it was in my two GH1s. I will test it this afternoon!

(assumption is the mother of all screw ups lol)

By the way, not every PAL model is an European model. They also have PAL models for Australia. The 30 min limitation in Europe is not a technical thing but a law thing. If it can record longer than 30 minutes it will be a video camcorder for law with higher importing duties. But again, I'll try it!

Check ebay.com.au. There are vendors from Hong Kong and Taiwan selling PAL versions w/o time limit. $1076 for body only including worldwide shipping. For $1282 you can have either 14-42 or 14-45 kit, the latter is a very decent lens.

Now the $1599 I paid for the GH2 + 14-140mm doesn't seem so bad. I just wish the first body only I bought was not defective. $900 for that one was a steal.

Checking out but these cams have Japanese menu and that can't be changed to English menu, right?

Sorry, mate, my bad. I've read the description more carefully - these are indeed Japanese NTSC models. But some of them are advertised to have English menu, though. Perhaps the vendors know the trick how to convert it via service mode or something.

Patience is a virtue...

Over a month's rent for a consumer grade camera body with no lens is pretty steep! I think I'm gonna wait a while on the GH2.

I just picked up another brand new GH1 body (unhackable) from Adorama for $399 shipped. They're just too fun at that price NOT to buy. :D
