1080p24 natively displayed with Apple HD Cinema Displays

Hey,

Would anyone know whether the new 23" Apple HD Cinema Displays can display the 1080p from the HVX200 in at true 24fps or does the monitor have to display the footage with a 3:2 pulldown added. I now the previous generation Apple displays had to have the pulldown added, but can the new ones display 24p natively?

Thanks all ...

24p on the cinema display looks like 24p, but because it's a 60p display, you get some frames lasting for 2 60p frames, and others for 3 60p frames, so no interlacing, but not quite even playback, not that you ever notice it.

I went searching through all the official Apple Cinema display stuff, and couldn't find a refresh rate on display specifications. I know all my LCDs offer a 60 Hz refresh rate - but if any of the displays saw fit to refresh at 72 Hz, you could get rid of all the motion problems at 24p.

We use HD Link in the field with Apple displays for monitoring and they work just fine. Check the blackmagic website. It outputs 1080p24 too.

If you just open a 24p quicktime movie and play it on your LCD, that's what it looks like when played out of FCP on the LCD, or via the HDLink. It just looks great. You know in your mind it has to be doing something funky for the playback rate because you know it's a 60hz refresh, but really, you don't actually see it!!

Strangely enough, PAL stuff just looks fine too. I don't quite know why, but it does work. I've not tried 50p yet, but 25p looks fine.

Thanks for the responses. I plan on purchasing the 23" Cinema Display along with HDLink and corresponding card once I get the HVX. I have the older 23" Cinema Display right now as my computer monitor and just wanted to make sure with HDLink, the new monitor will ouput 24p natively as opposed to adding a pulldown for viewing.
