1080p

I am trying to figure out [haven.t bought a camera yet] if the HVX does 1080p...from what I read it is 1080/24p over 60i - does that mean the footage is 1080i ?? I suspect that if I import the footage into my editor and remove the pulldown [probably shooting in the 24pA mode to make it easier???] then I would edit on a 23.9 timeline and have 1080p...but if I did not remove the pull down it would be 29.97 and be 1080i [although the image would stutter etc.]? Is that correct?

Thanks,
Mark.

the 24pa mode works exactly like it did on the DVX it shoots 24P encodes it in the 60i stream.

If you watch it without the remoing the pulldown it will look like bad transfered 24 film.

So you are correct. :)

The P2 viewer gives the tech info of the files. When I put in a card with 1080i/24p footage the format reads 1080/59.94 with the frame rate as 23.98. By the way it looks fantastic!

I am using my memory, which is dangerous, but I believe 1080i/60i footage format read 1080/59.94 with frame rate as 29.97. Again, fantastic!

Yeah, this one can be tough to wrap your head around. After you do the pulldown in your editing suite (assuming it's supported) you will have 1080p.
