Can you explain "over 60i".

Sorry, but I just can't get it.
 
The recording/broadcast signal is 60i. So 30p gets imaged as 30 progressive frames, but when it gets recorded it gets sliced into fields for purposes of accomodating the recording codec. In your editor that process gets reversed and it's restored to its original 30p state.

Same for 24p, but a little more complicated as 2:3 pulldown gets introduced to "pad" the 24 frames (48 fields) into the necessary 60 fields for recording.

So we don'y get native 1080 but at least as a final result images will be from a true progressive source.

You do get native 1080p. Once your editing program ingests the footage it's restored to full native progressive.

It's just in the recording that it needs to be converted to fields for purposes of recording.
 
AVC Intra is designed new from the ground up, with no legacy issues to contend with. I would presume (but don't know for sure) that true variable frame rates in native progressive mode are possible and provided for with AVC-Intra. I expect it'll be the foundation of the next-generation VariCam.
