1080p on HPX500

Hello-

I'm shooting something for a client from Germany who has asked for the video to be shot on 1080p. I usually shoot in 720. From what I understand, shooting 1080i on the 500 in 30p and 24p is essentially like shooting 1080p. With the 500, all settings are listed at 1080i/60, 1080i,30p... etc. Does the 1080i listing make a difference when you're shooting in 30p or 24p? How do I best explain to the client?

Thanks in advance for the advice.

In those modes, it's not "like" shooting as 24p or 30p, it IS shooting as 24p or 30p.

The menu option is named very poorly. All it means is that it's recorded in a 1080i stream, with pulldown, because that's what the codec requires. But it's 24p or 30p footage. You reconstruct the original frames in post.

Before settling for 24 or 30p, please check with your german client to make sure if he doesn't want 25p. Here in Holland (next door to germany) we'll only use 25p (except when for cinema release)
