1080i24p timeline issue

We finished up a shoot with the HVX set on 1080i/24p.

The sequence settings for the project are set at DVCPRO HD 1080i60.

After import, the clip attributes are:
1280x1080, 29.97 fps, DVCPRO HD 1080p compressor

When dropped into the timeline, we're getting choppy playback with a 2:3 pulldown cadence. We also shot some variable frame rate stuff in 720p and those clips playback fine.

What sequence settings should we be using? If you need anymore info let me know.

This is driving us nuts because last year we did a shoot in 1080i for the same company, and all those clips read 23.98fps after being imported, and they play back fine.

Any ideas?

I know the cameras were not set-up in 1080i/24PA.. I just found a page saying 1080i/24p is not even supported by FCP.

What is the difference between 1080i/24pa and 1080i/24p?
 
I read what the difference was in the manual.. I shot a quick clip in 24pa and saw that FCP recognizes it as 23.98 vid rate.

So all the footage we shot in the regular 24p is pretty much useless?
 
You can use Cinema Tools to convert it. Or, you can edit it in a different editor which works with the 24p footage as 23.98.
