1080i converted to 1080p? Workflow or howto?

I was thinking of shooting in 1080i and then just doubling the lines to fill in the gap. Would this technically give me better picture than 720p? I've used the HVX a lot but i never put it in 1080i mode cuz i want progressive. Has anyone experimented with this?

Even in 1080 the camera can output progressive. Internally all processing is done progressively, and in the case of 1080, it is then stored as two interlaced fields. However, those two fields still from one progressive frame.
 
So can anyone link me to a guide on here that has the best settings available for filming? Any personal suggestions etc?

There is no such thing, otherwise the settings wouldn't be adjustable. You have to find out what is appropriate for your circumstances and needs.
