Hi all,

Forgive another newbie question. I just recorded some 1080i/24pa footage to laptop using DV Rack HD. Problem is, the subsequent AVI file plays back squeezed to a 4:3 aspect ratio. Do I have a setting wrong in camera, or am I supposed to unsqueeze the image in post? FYI: I use Sony Vegas.

Thanks,
Scott

Unsqueeze in post; Vegas does it automatically for you if you edit in a 1920x1080 project and set your pixel aspect ratio to 1.500 in Vegas for your DVCPRO-HD clips.

Thanks for the tip, Barry. I just discovered a way to do this myself (I think), though I'm not sure my approach is as sound as yours. I opened a 1920 x 1080 project, then deselected "Maintain aspect ratio" on the clip on the timeline. The resulting video seemed to fill the preview window properly.

Now I'll try your way and compare the two.

Thanks so much for dropping in with this info. As someone who is struggling up the learning curve, I'm so very grateful that you're willing to take time to help a newbie.

BTW, I purchased your Bootcamp DVDs and found them to be an excellent resource. I appreciated the conversational tone, the tremendous amount of detail, and your obvious devotion to spreading useful information about the HVX. Money well spent.

Thanks,
Scott
