1080 and"Upressed" 720p is there a big difference?

Barry,
You said in another thread that 1080 on the hvx "looks nothing like upressed 720". I have tested both frame sizes on my hvx side by side and the difference is not as noticeable as you seem to say. I definitely see a difference but only after zooming in quite a bit in FCP, but nothing really when both are viewed on a 1080 screen. Does this seem right or could I be missing something? What should I be looking for, or what could I do (in camera) to get a better distinctly better image using 1080 as opposed to 720.
Thanks for any help or comments.

What I'm saying is that 1080 has a noticeable resolution increase. It's not "uprezzed", which implies a digital process of stretching the footage. There's no "uprezzing artifacts" or anything like that.

720 is "downrezzed" 1080.

But there's not a huge difference between them, it's only about 15-20% more res. Plus the 1080 is noticeably visibly less compressed than 720.

Thanks for the quick response and clarifying that the HVX does not upres from 720 to 1080 but down res's to 720 from 1080. This and another post regarding 1080 and 720 has probably changed me from shooting all of my stuff in 720pn to 1080.
Thanks again.
