1080 and 720 compatible on the same timeline?

So far i've been shooting 1080, but i'm thinking of switching over to shooting 720 due to the fact that i can do slo motion etc.

Here is the question, am i able to mix and match 1080 with 720 or will i have issues and should just pick 720 and stick with it? We are shooting a spec trailer to shop around. Originally we were going to shoot a full episode so i was suggested to shoot 1080 but now having 2nd thoughts...



any technical advice is welcome...

You can easily put 1080 on a 720 timeline, if you don't mind renders. And while you could put 720 on a 1080 timeline, I'm not sure how well the 720 content will look "upsized" to 1080.

But they are interchangeable, so long as they are the same fps, I suppose.
