1080/24p vs. 720/24p

While attending the Lone Star International Film Festival this weekend I overheard a conversation where a guy was explaining why he prefers to shoot in 720/24p instead of 1080/24p.

He's using the HMC150 and the HVX200.

I got there as her was finishing and am curious what his reasoning for his comment was.

Is there are reason why I would want to shoot in 720 instead of 1080?

More time for the P2 cards in 720, with a 16 gig card you get 43 minutes in 720p 24, in 1080p 24 you get 17 minutes.

I shoot everything in 1080, I think it looks better even when down converted to a SD dvd.
