I filmed and edited a tv show which goes out on good food tv in the uk next week - Sicily with Aldo & Enzo, The 101 was the main camera with a ninja, as 2nd camera we had a pdw-350 and during the recipes a 3rd camera (GH1 with hack) was also used for a safe wide. I edited on edius and did extensive colour correction. Its on the hd channel (247 on Sky) Also on Virgin. I mainly used the stock 14-140 lens for its zoom range, the 7-14 was also used along with a 20mm pancake. The 101 was main camera handheld on the recipes and on legs for GV's, the 350 did food close ups and some GV's. The GH1 did wide on the recipes using a 14-42mm. We traveled light and the whole kit went on easyjet (within our carry on and 1 case per person). We were away for 12 days total and filmed 10 shows. It was hard work but great fun. I had a second cameraman and a part time camera assistant (the son of Enzo). We had a sound guy, I did all the data transfers in the evening (really tight and I didn't sleep much), managed to loose only a couple of shots from the last day. I had 2 x 32 gig cards as backup for 5 500 gig drives for the ninja, I coppied all the footage inc camera sd card backups, gh1 files and xdcam discs to the ninja drives, I also had a 1tb drive as second backup (fitted 9 shows on). We filmed last june and the 101 and ninja were on the first job with me. I'm really happy with the results, I feel the 101 footage is not a sharp as the 350, and the gh1 was really sharp, the lightweight 101 was easy to use handheld and the wide lens was sharper than the 14-140. If we get a series 2 I'll look to a c300 or fs-700, I'd still take the 101 as since its been used a lot in theatres filming a wide shot, its great for this as the lenses are super wide and the -5 exposure setting makes a good job at handling theatrical lighting, I'd use the 101 in the cookery show in place of the gh1 as safe wide, I'd take 1 or 2 gh2's (or gh3 if available and hacked) to do locked off food closeups. I'd also look to a cannon 305 as a replacement for the sony 350, size and 50mb codec being the main reason, I did need a lens with a proper power zoom too. The shows are broadcast several times each weekday starting on the 16'th. I hope some of you can watch them. I'll try to answer any questions you may have after viewing
