100B Light Sensing Problem

My son's 100B apparently has a light sensing problem. He says it plays back existing videos OK. But when shooting it says "Low Light" in the viewfinder and on the LCD and plays back black. Any idea what the problem might be? What's the best place for repair? (he's at UC Berkeley).

Well, let's start with the obvious first because hey, you never know -- is the ND filter set to off? And is the iris set to open?
