100B Audio vs. 100A Audio

I got one of the first 100B's in production (serial number under 35) and have loved every second of it. No problems to speak of. Until I was on a shoot with my 100B and two 100A's. The audio engineer (who has been in the business for 20+ years) told me that he the monitored audio in the 100B was low compared to the 100A's. We toned the cameras at the same level and the monitor volume is all the way up. Also, the camera settings are exactly matched. The engineer says that my camera is broken and I need to send it in for a warranty repair. He backs his claim up having just been on another shoot that was using two 100B's and their monitored audio was louder than 100A's.

Somebody please tell me that my camera is not broken!

Fortunately, I don't think that the recorded audio is effected.

Anyone?

Seriously, has anyone noticed any difference between the 100A and 100B monitored audio level?

I love people that just jump to conclusions over something like that. Usually when trouble shooting a problem I start with the most obvious. Did you check the Audio Volume on the camera. I'm not talking about the audio levels (the two circles at the bottom of the camera on the left hand side), I'm talking about the acutual monitoring leve (on the top of the camer underneath the handle there are several playback buttons including "volume up and down". That would seem to be your most likely culprit.

This is really easy to test, no need to guess at all. Just push a know audio tone (at a known level) onto a piece of tape and compare the levels in two different cameras. Check both the monitor level and the line outputs. I doubt you have a camera problem, more likely, just as scharky stated, a setup issue.

Thanks for the suggestion, but, like I said in my original post, "the monitor volume is all the way up". It was the first thing I checked. I know the camera extremely well and I checked everything that could be culprit (mic gain levels match the 100A as well as every other setting). Well, actually I shouldn't say that. What I should say is, I checked out all of the obvious things that could be culprit. The possibility does exist that I missed something not so obvious somewhere.
(by the way, I am the one with the 100B, my monitoring level buttons are behind the LCD) :)

What I need to know is whether or not the camera is outputting the monitor audio signal lower than it should be. So if anyone has any suggestions, I'm game.

I KNOW it outputs monitored audio lower than the 100A (verified). I DO NOT know whether this is standard for the 100B or something is wrong.

low audio volume on DVX100B

low audio volume on DVX100B

After using the DVX100A for several months straight I bought a new DVX100B. One of the first things I noticed was that the headphone volume is much lower...and yes, that is with the audio output level set to it's highest and the meters just peaking into the red. I found that with the 100A i had to reduce the output volume level. On the 100B it's still not loud enough..,
