100b Audio Quiet

I just got myself a fancy shmancy DVX 100b. Of course it's great. But the audio is really quiet (using the Internal mic). When I re-watch footage ON the camera it's clear as day, with little-to-no back noise. But when I capture/edit the footage, everything is so quiet and it only sounds normal when we speak REALLY loud. Increasing the Audio Gain just increased a LOT of back noise.


Now I shot a feature with the 100a and didn't have this problem. So is the mic itself screwy or is there a setting it might be on that I'm not seeing?

check the audio channels beside the lcd moniter maybe

Nope, I played with those. They're cranked all the way up.
