Hello all.

My friend Jason & I recently shot a short film with the d90. It's only two minutes long, so please tell us what you think (Links on the right):

It's basically a fake commercial for minute maid juice...

PS: The first part is really grainy, but that can't be helped.

Nice :) Love that you got it on iTunes

And... yes, you can !

Try something like Neat Video | Noise Reduction Software

Practice makes perfect...dont shoot on daylight against the sun...that scene is way to overexposed(window)/underexposed(interior), and grainy because you forced it to much.
The "magic" of a commercial, is to say in 30 seconds the product`s message in a cursive , natural and creative way.Cut the guy more and put the product in perspective ;)

Cheers

Some great shots in there, but that script don't need more than 30 seconds to work. A better V.O or text could condense the message in two sentences, and the isolation vs. freedom, exploration, journey, is well understood, 5 seconds after the music starts. From there you would need only a little time to build a crescendo and kill it with your anticlimatic ending.

I suggest you, for the sake of exercise, cut that same script to a 30 second film. You won't like it at first, because you're attached to the footage but leave it in your hard drive for a couple of months and watch them again. The shorter will make more sense.

Good Work though, wish I knew how to make these images when I was a student.

My biggest problem is the guy does not look one bit comfortable on the skateboard.

Too true. Neither of us knew how (or knew anyone who did), hence all the weird angles and cutting.

mrmoe: Yeah. I was reading about that in another thread, sounds like an amazing plug-in. Kinda pricey though... plus I have a Mac. :(

stoiqa: Yup. This was our first time shooting with the camera, and I had trouble getting the hang of trying to adjust exposure/focus.

taubkin: I think its a little too long as well. More like a short film that happens to be a commercial, rather than the other way around.
