Yes, thecomo is posting in the HVX forum. want to know why? A little while ago, i shot a video with my DVX. Called it the 100 dollar scam.

http://blip.tv/file/255634?filename=ComeauProductions-The100DollarScam245.mov

In the video, the lead actress' uncle saw this. He is into film and he wanted to redo this. In HD. So i thought ok sure. But what i wasnt expecting, was the equipment he brought. Now i know your all probably use to this, but it was a first time for me.

He brought an hvx, with a MASSIVE tripod. At least $4,000. Along with that, they had about $50,000 in lenses, in a little case. They had a massive adapter for the HVX for D.O.F (wasnt the redrock or brevis, this one was massive)
They had MANY lights, and many other things. The guy brought a long a DP, a lighting guy, and the director (the uncle)
the equipment was all rented, it would cost to much to buy!!!

My video i shot took about 3 hours. This video with the "pros", took about 8. It was a long day. Our actor couldn't make it, so i had to act for him.

The reason why he wanted to redo it, is im not QUITE sure actually. He wanted to give me a chance i think, and redo it in HD. He is making a website and he wants little short videos on it, and he said he really liked mine.

THe video is on DVD, which i will be getting tomorrow. I was just excited that i HAD To start this thread tonight. Hahaha

I can post a BTS footage later if i can find it!

Thanks

cool! congrats! I'm betting he liked your story enough that he just thought it deserved some big time production value. post some bts and if you can the end product (if its cool with the uncle).

Oh, the end product is coming up tomorrow.

The behind the scenes i took got damaged from my external, so i lost it. But you have to imagine it lol. The camera on the tripod, with all the accesories with it, was not pick-up-able.......we had to take it a part to move it. It was exciting!

Guys i forgot to mention

a 20 inch, panasonic HD monitor, about 4,000 dollars i think. They had the follow focus and everything for the adapter.

I remember seeing this exact same concept on other video shoot...I can;t remember...i think it may have been from Europe...but it was funny to see it again anyway

Notnhign really lol. I tried to help direct but the main director would always sa what to do!

So.. another director liked your work.. and wanted to remake it.. what credit did you get then? I hope you got a screenplay / writing credit..

Neat that you had some higher production values.. but.. it almost sounds as if he just kind of took your idea to use as his own?

Regardless, I liked the idea.. it was fun.

the Re-make is obviously much better. IT's tighter and not a lot of extraneous stuff to it.. and moved at a better pace. Your clip was good but the audio design was distracting and the shot of the guy at the door was way backlight.. I hope ya get a good credit and if it was a learning experience then it's all good.... and try to keep things moving and cut cut cut.

If i redid that now, it would be much better.

I have a RODE mic, i have better camera movement, i know how to set exposure, and the stretch was awful. I can now fix all those things, based on the experience with my DVX, and the help of you guys!
