10 Minute Wedding Documentary DVX+etus35FE

I shot my first pre-wedding doco for a colleague's son ( as a favour to kinda get my work out in public for people to see) who got married on the 1st January 2007. The video is around 9.30mins long consisting of a 5 min interview with the couple followed by a pre wedding music video cut to their favourite song. The video was shown on wedding day during the reception. If you're not keen to see the interview, just skip it and go to around 6 minutes to catch the music video.

Production Notes:
Equipment used: Rode NTG2 Mic for the interview, and the music video was shot using the Letus35FE and DVX. There were some dust specks on the Letus35FE mirrors which I have since been able to clean! Edited using Final Cut Pro.

Location: Empire Hotel and Country Club, Brunei ( a 6 star beach front hotel that only costs $US150 a night/room - I'm advertising for my country's pride and joy)

Things I will change for the next video: have more raw footage, tighter editing, more supers and motion graphics to spice things up.

So this is a doc/music video that's shot beforehand to be shown at the wedding? Interesting concept, and I hope it works out for you. The interview segment seems to run a little long, but it looks and sounds good.

I liked the interview a lot. You exploited the fact that they were a little uncomfortable and made it work really well, to show their relationship. I also liked the music video at the end. Nice stuff...the only thing for me was the location of the interview. The shot was set up okay, but the voices and sounds in the background were distracting to me. Maybe that was unavoidable for logistical reason? Anyway, nice work.

Yes unfortunately the couple was in a bit of a rush so we had to do the shots quickly. I should've gone to a quieter spot but it was around Xmas and the resort was busier than usual and people everywhere. will probably do a 'couple on a couch in a quiet room' location next time.. thanks for checknig out the video and leaving a note..

Yes this concept is something I have been trying t introduce into our local wedding scene. The usual weddings always show photoslide shows and it gets a little boring as there isn't much production value put into the shows. And they somehow ALWAYS use less than suitable music... My plan is to really make a proper 10 minute doco for wedding receptions depending on whatever theme the couple wants (fun music videos, a 'this is your life' kind of doco, etc )
