FS7: 10 cent base plate extension for long zoom.

Spend my last money on an old Nikkor 50-300 f 4.5.ED AIS zoom, which is a nice, but rather heavy lens.

A nice baseplate looks cool, but to spend several hundreds of dollars to support a second-hand lens... no.

So I made this wooden thing. If it works good enough the local blacksmith can make one in aluminium on his CNC machine. The plate is a left-over sachtler plate (I replaced it with a shorter manfrotto one). The wood was saved from the fireplace.

Next step: make it self-propelled with caterpillar tracks.

If you are getting a metal one made it is worth noting (you cant see it in the pic) that the front is slotted..

-allows easy lens insertion
-slot is long enough for normal or speedbooster adapter

Do you have detail photo's or a drawing?

Problem of my new lens support I made last night is the difficult lens insertion. (didn't have good screw, use old hexagonal socket screw.)
The mushroom head square neck bolts
or 'Slotbout' in Dutch fit nice and can still slide.
