GH5 10-bit footage needed for CS6 test

Hey family,

are there any GH5 owners out there who would be willing to shoot and upload a gradient for me (blue sky) in 10-bit so that I may pop the file into Premiere Pro CS6 and verify if it indeed is working with the 10-bit file natively or if it's doing something else?

Muchos gracias.

Thank you very much for thos files Video652. One of the examples you provided to me showed very clearly that these 10-bit files are being read and that I'm actually working with 10 bit files directly in premiere pro cs6. I pushed the grade trying to get the sky to band but I could not. Smooth gradients basically everywhere which has never been the case previously with the gh4.

good news for cs6 users.

What's the going price for a used GH4? I've got two that I'm thinking of selling & picking up another GH5. Might even trade them to a dealer to avoid the hassle of private sales.

My decision is based as much on ergonomics as image quality. Not that the ergonomics are better or worse, it's just my reptilian brain doesn't like switching back 'n forth. Would also like to carry one style HDMI cables, & a common cage.

Price dropped considerably. I want to sell my GH4 as well but I think the market was flooded with used GH4's when people caught wind of the GH5. B&H recently quoted me $1,000.00 (even I might add) for a GH4, couple of lenses and the Atomos Ninja Blade. I laughed and deleted the email and decided maybe I should try my luck selling it my self on Craigslist.

I think B&H just pulled a flat number out of you know where thinking I was desperate to offload a bunch of gear. Selling piece meal may be a better solution.

Still not sure I want to sell the GH4 body. If I can only get $500 for the body it is worth keeping it as a backup camera. If I can't get a decent price selling it on my own I will likely just keep it.

If you consider trading with Adorama, please be very careful because they promised me a certain price (in writing via email) and upon receiving my GH4, they reduced the price drastically. I had cancelled my pre-order with Hot Rod for my GH5 because I thought it was only reasonable to purchase it from Adoroma since they were purchasing my GH4 (in mint condition and with all accessories). I lost $20 on my pre-order from Hot Rod. The GH4 had actually went back up in price during this time. I did honor my commitment and purchased the GH5 from Adoroma, but made them return my GH4, which I sold to a private buyer. This was the second time I had a shady trade-in deal with Adoroma. No problem whatsoever purchasing from Adoroma.

They promised you a certain price for unseen equipment?
Sorry, but I find that hard to believe!

That will happen when they look at the gear and determine the condition. B&H, KEH and Amazon will do that as well if you tell them "yeah its in great shape!" and when they get it they determine its only in ok shape. Like it or not but it is good that these companies have very strict rating systems for used gear. Its why we can trust buying used gear from them. If they say something is a 9 rating it really needs to be a 9 so they can sell it as a 9. If we tell them something is a 9 and they get it and think it is a 7 they will give you their market value for a 7 rated item so they can sell it at the 7 rated value.

Sucks but its the reality of used gear.

A private buyer isn't looking for a rating in order to turn around and sell it again so you can typically get more for an item if it isn't in absolute perfect mint condition. Even if it is in mint condition a private seller will typically pay more because their value is in actually using the camera to create great content and not to turn a profit by selling it.

Just checked B&H again. $395 for the GH4 body. Um no thanks. I sold a GH3 body to them a year ago for more than that.

Amazon provides the most right now but that is for an Amazon gift card. If you plan on buying a bunch of stuff off of Amazon thats a great choice. Be aware Amazon is extremely picky and their value drops very fast if they find the slightest smudge or scratch. I have yet to sell them anything that they actually gave me the top value for. They always manage to find something wrong. I think they figure most people are not going to throw a fit and pay for the return shipping. They are probably right because I always give in and take the gift card.

Thomas,

What rating did you give B&H for your GH4? See they're selling a 9+ for $840. Sort of expect to recieve about half of what a Vendor will turn it around for.

Never did sell either of my GH3s. LCD hinges got a little loose so never felt comfortable putting them on the market. Also have a GH1, & GH2, gathering dust.

$395 was for the rating right before the best. It also included all the accessories they listed check marks for. I know the camera will not pass the top rating so I went one lower. They may even give me less for it.

I purchased the GH4 from Adoroma. It's all okay. End of story.
In fact, the market had changed, the camera actually went back up to $1497.
