OK folks, Here is the deal. I have spoken with Mr. Garcia Olivier at Blue 3DS. As I speak french and live in Paris, it seemed logical to contact him.

The firmware is NOT Canon's. It is their modification. It allows them to shoot with the 5D Mark 2 and produce 35mm film-outs. They are currently working on 3 feature films shot this way. They are able to treat the images as 4.2.2 from a CF card without dealing with the H.264 codec. Mr. Olivier told me that getting rid of the letterbox was child's play and while not able to get rid of all the artifacts, they specialize in pixel to pixel correction. They provide all the necessary rental equipment, including anti-aliasing filters and obviously the post-production workflow.

He was able to tell me with an of informed assurance that he was certain that the 24/25p firmware update was coming.

Any chance you can get a hold of one of their units and offload the firmware?

You know, Red User was a major forum where 24p rumors started back before the firmware update in May. Those rumors allegedly developed from reputable, trustworthy professionals who swore it was coming.
Rumors aren't going to give me any renewed sense of hope, but taking action by directly contacting Canon with the requests does.

hahaha maybe it's just h2.64 being converted to prores 422 10bit with cineform NEOscene nothing more.
And then then using Rolling shutter plugin in aftereffects to clean out the wobble.
