1 beep then 10 beeps upon startup

Hello I've been using a DVX for about 8 months and I've been good about using only MQ tapes, with the exception of maybe 7 times when I first had it. I've recently let a friend use it, and he was using PQ tapes. I let him use off and on for a while and everything seemed fine. I imagine he used maybe 8 Panasonic PQ tapes.

Tonight, now when I start it with a locked MQ tape inserted, it beeps once, then beeps 10 more times. If I unlock the tape, it only beeps once. What's going on? Should I run a dry head cleaner again? I did this one already and it didn't change anything.

Thanks
Eric

I found this in the manual

For setting the beep tone to ON or OFF.
OFF ON
When ON is selected as the setting, the
beep tone is sounded at the times given
below.
OWhen the beep tone is sounded, the
audio signals from the output connectors
are muted, and the beep tone is output
instead.
[Beep tone sounds once]
OWhen the POWER switch has been set
to ON
OWhen shooting has commenced
[Beep tone sounds twice]
OWhen shooting has been temporarily
stopped
[Beep tone sounds 10 times]
OWhen the cassette tape has not been
inserted
OWhen the cassette tape is in the
recording pause mode
OWhen condensation has formed inside
the camera recorder
OWhen a problem has occurred in the
camera recorder

So I tested it and it was consistent. If I have a tape set to "SAVE", then it beeps 10 times, which means it's in 'recording pause mode'. When I put the tape to "REC" then it only beeped once.

This is weird though. My DVX suddenly beeped. It NEVER beeped before. Somehow the beep function in the menu was turned on, and I don't know how that could have happened. Nobody turned it on that I know of.

Its pretty obvious your friend maybe of accidentally turn it on. Now if your mother board on your computer beeps 10x, then you're skrewd! :)
