1/8" Lavalier -> XLR?

I am supposed to fly to Miami tomorrow to shoot my first little piece for a local union...I already had a fairly nice shotgun mic and I decided just a few days ago that I should probably have a lav too (this was tough decision because I am already $2000 in debt!)...so I just received it in the mail yesterday and realized that I should have thought twice because: the output on the receiver (it's wireless) is 1/8". The lav set-up is the Azden WLX-PRO which looks like a friggin' Radio Shack toy, but hopefully it will do the job?

So my question is: What do I do in this case? Can I just buy a 1/8" -> XLR cable to get it into my DVX, or will I need some sort of...pre-amp or something?

I know very little about this stuff, but a quick response would be much appreciated because I'm flying out in less than 24 hours!

Thanks,

Yes a 1/8" -> XLR cable will do it. The DVX will ahndle any (mic or Line) signal you throw at it.
Be sure to have phantom power off on the DVX when you are plugged in and also the cable will have to be the right type. - Check the pinouts of the Azden (is it a stero plug, etc?) or see if they have an cable as an accessory or one that is recomended.

I don't have it with me at the moment (at work) but I know for a fact that the 1/8" out is mono. So what you are saying is that I should get a 1/8" mono to XLR (which is always mono, right?) cable and turn off the phantom power?

That's not nearly as involved as I thought it might be -- yippee! Thanks a lot.

Yeah that should do it.

If you are lucky, the Azden will even be a balanced output - which is even better.

Yes XLR is mono. - Sometimes there can be funky cable that don't dela with the stereo-to-mono issue with 1/8 and XLR. But if it's all mono it should work fine (unless of course it's one of those funy "de stereoizer" cables!) :)
