0lux or Nightvision on the dvx100?

I am fully aware that the Panasonic dvx100 is a "prosumer" grade camcorder, and therefore lacks some of the simple features on most $300 camcorders. One of those features being "NightShot" or 0lux capabilities. And while I do understand why (these cameras just arn't meant to be used in pitch black, your supposed to have lighting kits etc..)...these are the answers I have been given elsewhere when I ask this question.....

Anyways, my question is...is there some sort of attachment that you can buy that you can hook onto the dvx100 that would give it the ability to shoot at night? I want to use it for a project I have in mind, and I want that green tinted, nightshot look. I have noticed on cheaper cameras that its usually just a button that switches on a tiny red light on the front of the camera. So can you buy a seperate light and attach it to the camera that would make it work the same?

there is a plugin called CameraPov by Profound Effects.

Profound Effects™ CameraPOV™ is a suite of 8 effects that simulate a through-the-lens look for various photo and video cameras. and nightshot (night vision) is one of them.

You're only option is ElectroPhysics Night Vision attachments. They range from $5000 - $8000 a piece. Pretty much pointless to stick something like that on a DVX seeing as how they're 2 to 3 times the price of the camera itself. I honestly don't get why an IR NighShot option isn't on all cameras. Just because it's there doesn't make a camera anymore unprofessional. It simply increases your shooting option with the camera. Most people would never use it, but at leasts it would be there.

You'd be better off renting or buying a Sony A1U.
