07Q Firmware v2.10.141

100 frames Raw end trigger half works very nicely! Looking forward to testing more.

I can no longer get any input from my Sony A7 using the hdmi<>sdi converter I can with the previous firmware. The inputs bounce around trying to detect and show no picture (and make the 7q gui almost unresponsive). In Dpx mode this menu described in the release notes is missing :
Incoming Video Format Menu Setting
For setting type of 1080 signal between 1080p/psf, 1080i and 1080 23.98 over 60i (3:2 Pulldown). Selecting 3:2 Pulldown sets recording to remove 3:2 pulldown cadence and record material as 1080p23.98. 3:2 Pulldown in 720p not supported.
[INPUTS] [PROGRESSIVE / INTERLACE / 3:2 PULLDOWN TO 24P]

and in prores mode its there, but selecting progressive, interlace or pulldown, none of them result in a signal. Note I retested the setup on old firmware before upgrading.

I've tried pal/ntsc and any combinations.

Any suggestions mitch?

Cheers,

Kieran
Try going to the SET menu and doing a full reset. I have found this to clear the HDMI transmitter/recever connection and suddenly the signal comes through. HDMI can really annoy me!

Why doesn't someone just post the FW on here?

I haven't updated yet... will do it when I get back next week. Anyone play with the 100/120fps? Are both options available to FS700 USA model? Either way, you get the same final output length (440frames/24 fps = 18.3sec). So I guess if you need to record a longer evet you would use the 100fps (hahaa longer from 3.6s to 4.4s :-P)

One feature that wasn't mentioned in the Release Notes, but does now seem to be fixed with the new firmware:

Audio DOES play out the 3.5mm trs jack (headphone) when reviewing footage, even when the 7Q isn't attached to the FS700. *as far as I have tested, it works in all FS700-related modes that have audio recording!

Thanks CD/Mitch for listening and fixing that! Love finding little extra positives, even though we are still slowly working towards getting the other promised features...
Yeah, there are so many little quirks that we corrected that we honestly forgot we did some of them.

Sorry, didn't understand that from your post. Try it anyway. Either way, please let me know the model converter you're using so we can try to help.

It's the atomos connect h2s. I was hoping the new firmware fixed the issues with 1080p50/60 hdmi to sdi since it's probably required to work to get the sony a7s to even talk 24p to the 7q at the moment (since I assume it's full sensor readout output is fixed, same as a7 above what the hdmi direct will take .

i retested current firmware and still got scrolling image same as this post.

http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?322488-Odyssey-7q-50-60p-using-hdmi-to-sdi&highlight=

Uograded 7q, now just can't even get a signal, stuck in detect. The atomos seemed the most 7q compatible out of the 3 I tested.

Reset did not help. Also tried the fs700 as hdmi source. Fine up to 30p direct hdmi and via sdi converter. At 50/60p direct hdmi, green as expected and not supported. Via converter same deal, 30p ok, above that, issues detecting.

i might go back to old firmware so I can use the camera. I need it to work more than I need 100fps and playback controls...

open to suggestions. Did you guys actually ever test 50/60p hdmi to sdi conversion into the 7q before saying it would work? It's been months since I brought it to light in that post. If so, which converter did you use. I'd suggest going and buying a h2s to test with, it's cheap and has a good mode reference bars

did anyone try the 7Q's internal Timecode Generator? is it possible to have the 7Q's Timecode running free run or time of day, and at the same time switching Recording Formats (e.g. 4K2HD and RAW 240p) - so that if you finished shooting slowmo, the Camera is still in sync with other cameras operating on the same shoot? Could come in handy for multicam stuff...

How are people finding the LUT? I got a horrible magenta cast, in the Raw -> Raw mode, whereas as in the Raw -> Prores (4k2HD) mode I got a very nice looking LUT. Yes I am in slog2 and the cam is outputting raw.. Anybody else had similar issue?

Well the list of updates is GREAT. The device is much more professional now. I should be able to get more rentals out of this thing because of the upgrades with compatibility.

I'd still love to see ProRes up to 60p. That would make this device more competitive to the Atomos offerings non-DSLR shoots. Also I think that the vectorscope is the other thing my clients ask for the second most.

And this may be the wrong forum but the update info has it that the F3 uses dual link to output 1.5Gbps for recording to the FS700. It should be that it is 3Gbps with the dual link to get the RGB 4.4.4. recording options. Using a single SDI out is what gets the 1.5 Gbps and much fewer options... This was requested a few times so I"m glad it was implemented. Thank you.

ProRes 422 for 1080p50/60 is done, as Dan wrote today:

Dan Keaton at DV Info said:
Our Number One Priority for our next firmware release is to support recording 4K in a compressed codec. Part of this project involved creating support for recording, in a compressed codec, up to 1080p60.

This part of the project is done, but we finished this part too late for inclusion in 2.10.141, which we released yesterday, as the thorough testing world have delayed this release.

I asked our team yesterday if we can get the testing done for our next release, and I am hopeful that we can.

Mitch, can this be confirmed? Get 60fps 4K2HD in there pronto, PLEASE. Imagine if you guys released a new firmware a few weeks (maybe two weeks) from now that included 60fps, this would really start bring CD back into the good graces of many who have been disgruntled so far. Whatever you do, don't make us wait months again for another firmware update when we know 4k2HD 60fps has been done.

Actually, you guys are so far behind on features you should just release this as an FS700 patch, ASAP.
