I don't like the idea of putting a hard limit on file sizes as it hurts me to watch a low res version of anybodies work. Maybe for the download challenged there could be a high res and low res offering but a hard limit to me would be like watching LOTR at the theater on super 8. I apreciate some peoples equipment is not up to spec or their download patience is non existent so a low res file as well as full on size would be the answer. I have both the speed and the patience and would not want to be penalized for the sake of those without when the answer is simply to offer a low res version. And yes I viewed all and voted. Will comment later.

Heavens Above - as a newish user I can't believe I've missed out on this for so long. I religiously check out the frame grabs section, and have missed out on this - definitely needs some more webspace/air time so we can all be made better aware, esp us newbies.

Ok, I definitely need to work the promotion angle. That's something I can fix. Thanks for the comments and participation.

I also wonder if the DVXFest.com site could be better utilized in this fashion. Before I found the sticky posts indicating it was time to download, view, and vote I had checked DVXFest, but only found the script that was used for this month's contest.

Just a thought. By the way, I was one of the original 0.27% who voted before this thread was originated :) (patting my self vigorously on the back!!!!)

Barry,

I just voted today after watching all the videos way back on the 3rd or 4th - I too missed the link!

Cheers,

That's still roughly 51 votes... The goal for the next contest should be to reach 1.5%, which is pretty good because I am willing to bet that a large percentage of the people registered on this forum don't frequent anymore

Although I'd like to see enthusiasm grow for this contest, and more people to get involved... I can understand how it could be tough to invest an hour in something such as this...
Either way, a bit of promotion and maybe a random-drawing prize giveaway for voters or something to get more people involved.

I placed my vote a short time ago. Are we suppose to be able to see the results because I saw the percentages? I won't give away whose the current leader just in case it was a program glitch.

Boy that was difficult. Well, I just casted my vote. Yeah, PK I saw the percentages too.

Good luck to all the entries!

Barry thanks for vocalising something I’ve felt about the high viewing figures and low posting apathy across the board. Personally I try and watch/ critique the projects on DVXuser, I do have to work as well! I may not be as eloquent as some of our great members (JH.. ) and people may not agree with my views/ taste but I still participate. You guys have created a wonderful learning environment, the mother of all study halls, Global! The Teachers, anyone who has something valid to pass on. I must admit I’m getting tired of posting my work here on DVX, with such low response(When no-one comments, strange thoughts take hold about your work, even though mine is on the strange side anyway!) I am trying my best to develop and find it hard without the support of my fellow users. I think awareness of problems that hurt the community should be thrashed out and openly discussed. Thanks for everything you guys do.

I concur 100% with these words. :)

In fact, I'd like to know the percentage of active members on this board. I'm sure there has to be a big percentage of people who registered here, but never became part of the community, lost interest, moved to DVinfo, became banned here, etc.

Therefore, it isn't fair to include their numbers in the total voting percentage as they have no impact on this board in any way except their membership counting toward a total number.
