••Ah, doin' the mess around!••

So...I went ahead and puchased a DVX100. I've been pretty succesful achieving the "film look" using color correction, post editing filters and DOF lenses with cameras other than the DVX100...If figured it was time I stepped up to the plate.

So here is my question...if I am going to color correct the footage, would it be more advantageous to leave the scene file settings untouched? I know you can mess around with the detail levels, chroma levels, color temp, GAMMA, etc. etc.
Any suggestions?

It depends on what you are after in your final look. I find that getting a warm or cold looks better when done in camera and then correct in the NLE from there.
I also find that if you want high contrast its better to do that in post. I kind of always shoot flat and muted so I have room for both color and contrast. You can always boost the colors or contrast later without really damaging the look but if you shoot saturated and then desaturate in post I think it looks noisy. This is just what I tend to like.
