Roma (2018) - I apologize if there was already a thread on Roma made here, I performed a search and didn’t find it.
What can I say - it’s a legit masterpiece. Just love it. Beyond the obvious, a refreshing narrative structure hailing to Fellini, it’s just an amazing piece of work purely technically. The cinematography, the shooting style, the art direction, costumes and so on - beyond reproach. And the acting!
The film really stays with you.
And then there’s the commentary about the film by the director Road to Roma (2020), which I just watched recently on Netflix. Really excellent, Cuaron is extremely insightful, and if you are interested in film, I think you can learn a lot from this, not just about the making of Roma, but about the art of cinema in general.
Highly recommend both!
