¿why to switch off the OIS when shooting with the anamorphic adapter?

I've read on the Panasonic anamorphic adapter manual that the OIS must be switched off when using the adapter...

Could you tell me wether this is really so important? I need to steady my footage but not to waste my images.

What may happen if I shoot with the OIS and the anamorphic adapter?

Thank you guys!!

You'll get distortion if you have the OIS on. The anamorphic adapter is meant to squeeze the image onto the DVX's lens and needs to do so in proper alignment. The OIS system "moves around" the point where the DVX is actually looking through its lens. You need the DVX's lens looking "straight forward" in order for the anamorphic adapter to properly work; if the DVX lens is looking off-angle even slightly, the anamorphic light-bending that the adapter does won't look right on the final frame.

Thank you very much, Barry!!

I've just shot some footage with the OIS on and can't find any problem in the images...

I had read in your book about issues when using the OIS with the anamorphic adapter and that's why I asked again but I must tell that until this moment I haven't noticed any image problem thank goodness...

I'm making a long trip next week and that's why I wanted to learn more about the OIS and the anamorphic adapter. I know the anamorphic adapter isn't the best choice to shooting when travelling due to focus issues (getting enough depth of field in order to focus properly) but I'd love to achieve 16:9 imagery... so I think I'll take the risk... The OIS seems to work well.

I'm back from my trip.

I shot with the anamorphic adapter and OIS switched on.

The result is good.

When shooting, I tried using wide angle lens to achieving enough depth of field or a little telephoto and the images a pretty good.

Thanks.
