Just wanted to say Happy Birthday to David Jimerson, and since you're the Vegas Pittbull here is a trip to Vegas for your birthday! -Jeremy

Hello photography people... Well after conversing with Jarred regarding this section of the site, I am pleased to announce the: First DVXUser Photography Contest! Why is a filmmaking community doing something with photography? Simple... With photography you learn about lighting...

Well after a long year of working I am finally on vacation. For my father's 50th birthday (7 years ago) I decided to take him to NY (where we grew up) to go to Old Timer's Day @ Yankee Stadium. Since then it has become this yearly tradition where we make this trek up here every year, catch a...

I know there are some Star Trek fans here and I think I remember someone once mentioning something about liking things that were shot on DV... Here is the article (complete with pictures of an XL1): 'Star Trek' Fans, Deprived of a Show, Recreate the Franchise on Digital Video By DANNY HAKIM...

So this weekend I went to DC to see the Yankees play the Nationals (I was at the Friday game we won, we being the Yankees, and yes, I do consider myself the 26th man on the roster) and sitting in the lower part of the upper deck of RFK my 70-210mm lens was just not long enough. I've looked at...

Well seeing as how many Nikon D50 owners we have here we decided to start a little thread here in the Still Photography section to share techniques, discuss lenses, share images, and talk about how much we like this digital SLR camera. I think that we should set some general ground rules just...

This has got to be the biggest movie of all time. Think about what we have got here... James Cameron directing, Mandy Moore, James Woods, and Vincent Chase. C'mon, this is going to be the biggest movie of all time, plus with Cameron going back to the water you know it's Oscar gold again...

Well here is the original and then a corrected version. I was going for a bit of mood and really wanted to pull down the tone and also use some of the photoshop tutorials that I have been working through lately. Original Corrected for Mood Side by Side Comparison Shot on the D50 with a...

Have ya'll ever checked out this DPChallenge.com? I spent a couple of hours today cheating on DVXUser and bumming through the archives over there and it is really cool. I guess they have weekly photography challenges, sort of like our DVXFests. I don't know, just seemed interesting to me...

Hey all... I thought I would share this picture that I took with my Nikon D50. It was taken on everything auto with a stock DX lense. I touched up the levels, color, and contrast, but think that the original might look better. Regardless, I thought I would share this one. -Jeremy

wondering what everyone's favorite lens is?

This weekend I was watched 'Heat' and 'True Romance' and it hit me: There are very few films where you get to see truly great actors square off head to head. In 'Heat' the scene with DeNiro and Pacino sitting at the table together matches two heavyweight actors just doing their thing and the...

I'm single, well dating someone, but not really involved involved. I just wanted to brag on myself real quick because tonight rather than doing what I always do (ordering pizza, picking something up to go, getting fast food, going to the grocery store and getting some prepared food) I cooked...

I work for a university, as those of you who know me already know. This Saturday we had our graduation ceremony and I was assigned to be an outside greeter. This means that for two hours it was my job to stand at the doors and greet people as they come in. I was assigned to work with a buddy...

Yesterday we shot day two of our three day shoot for this new short film I'm working on. It was an extremely long (20+ hours) day and I'm still recovering physically and mentally from it. Originally I had planned to rent a pro dolly for the shoot with circular track. When I got to the rental...

A buddy of mine sent me this link to this band who does this great cover version to Cry Little Sister from 'The Lost Boys' and it got me thinking, what are the greatest uses of music in a film? Not score, but licensed music, what are the best examples of a song being used to either create mood...

So Barry Bonds hit his first homer of the season tonight... 709, 5 shy of tying Ruth. Anyone else bothered by this? -Jeremy

OK, So I was going through Blockbuster last night dropping off a film and getting Texas Chainsaw Massacre (Original special edition, wanted to watch directors commentary track) and it got me thinking, a lot of us have these massive DVD collections. I have over 300 of them and hardly ever watch...
