    EOS: R5mk2 - any thoughts

We used to talk about stuff like this all the time, but it's been years. Your best bet is YouTube for random 4K/60p videos or specifically for a few modes tests (if available). If the camera doesn't have a full-frame less compressed and higher-bitrate option for 4K/60p like with 4K/24p (fine...

Phenomenal camera operators; some (a lot) of their shots are insane (for a sport like football).

FWIW, the AMIRA was a staple on NFL fields for like 10 years after it was first released. Not sure how it is now, but on TV I see a lot of different cameras in the broadcast (thought I saw a FX6 the other week).

    Arri Statement on future

This industry is infamous for people/superiors doing things a certain way, holding onto outdated corporate workflows, etc. even as technology rapidly changes. Nowadays, there should be zero issues for almost everything and it's mostly about, "There are systems in place and this is how we do...

    Arri Statement on future

ARRI supposedly provides great field support during major productions, which I'd assume is industry-expected, if true. RED had tremendous momentum for a solid 7-8 years, while film and Venice 1/2 were sprinkled in here and there (Sony helped its cause quickly with some huge blockbusters), but...

    Arri Statement on future

I used to think about the industry more and I think the most significant shift happened when everyone caught up with super-sampling. Seriously, this was such a problem for many years and I remember Blackmagic in the early days speaking about their goals [I'm paraphrasing] and how they wanted to...

    Arri Statement on future

I don't know their numbers but presumably their bubble was growing and I think it would eventually burst. Can only do so much with limited products, new people who have embraced different competition and highly improved post-production that can likely make almost any lighting from anyone look...

    Arri Statement on future

There is no point in having cameras when computers will be creating 99% of the world's images in the future. New generations will not thoroughly understand what human filmmaking and professional video coverage was. Hollywood motion pictures will be generated based on likeness and that will be...

    Arri Statement on future

While in the middle of a bidding war for WB and extending a deal with Sony for something a few months ago, throw that on their plate too, they can handle it. :)

ARRI would likely want to be overvalued (hey, who doesn't) and if they can pay it, why not.

    Arri Statement on future

I didn't read it, but I imagine they want to be acquired before it's too late. It was a good run - the best in cinema history - and forever Hollywood. Potential suitors...Canon, Sony, maybe one of the Mag 7, Apple being the favorite (if they had interest).

    POCKET 6K: Auto Focus

Come on, dawg...it's brand extension and nameplate carryover in marketing. The original Pocket could fit into most average-sized pockets [although without a lens unless it was a jacket pocket, which then adds ambiguity to the model name because both could fit into most jacket pockets (even with...

    POCKET 6K: Auto Focus

The URSA Minis starting in 2015 were kind of a box (with a V-mount plate) but longer, chunkier (and this is if you didn't add any accessories to it). To me, none of their cameras were/are like photo camera bodies besides maybe the 4K Pocket, but it's still wide and bulky and it's not like...

    POCKET 6K: Auto Focus

Probably the most innovative and daring camera company in history but really missed the boat on this one...better late than never only a little bit.

OTHER: Apple's proposed modular camera system

Just in time to get their RAW recording in them in 2028+. They should have been making cinema cameras a long time ago, it seemed like they always had interest in them.

One thing I greatly learned on this forum is how I am so not cut out in any way, shape or form to ever be a filmmaker. Keep at it! 🎞️

Both processes still need at least 1/60 or 360° to look normal. I used 180°-172° or 144° for many years in sports (it gives that crispy look to the action, 1/120 or higher when using dials which can adjust shutter speed in smaller increments).
