Are there any specific settings that you should change when capturing to Vegas? FPS or anything? And do you already have to capture in real time?

Excuse a newbie question, but: I'm getting two 25' XLR cables for an ME66 and the DVX, and they're to be one male end, one female, right? Is this one cable for each channel? I haven't seen 2 jacks on the mic (only seen through pictures) and there are obviously 2 on the camera. What am I doing here?
