I've heard panasonic is discontinuing the 63MQ tapes. ? now what ? PQ or AMQ ??

I wanted to get opinions on dv tapes. I noticed while looking through the post for cameras for sale, a few people made note they had ONLY used panasonic tapes. Does the brand really matter? Will cheap tapes actually hurt the camera heads? (besides the obvious picture quality issues)...

I realize the dvx100b's on ebay are grey market cameras, and not from authorized dealers, but the idea of a dvx with a case , couple of lenses, filter pack, etc for less than $3000. is intriguing. anyone have success / horror stories about the ebay dealers ?
