You really don't use the right words Doug and your are wrong. For instance you wrote "My FX6 already does a great job of tracking in real time" Yes it tracks ATW but not AF. If you would have read the manual that comes with the FX6 you would have known this but obviously you haven't read it...
I'm sorry you can't tell the difference between AF tracking and face/eye tracking but I know the difference and I think it would really add to the great focus system that's in the FX6.
Sony calls it "Real-time Tracking (touch tracking auto focus)" So that's how they name it. The current FX6 does face and eye tracking but not real time tracking. You better learn the Sony lingo.
Yes! It’s spot on for what I do just as the FS7 when it came. I had a conversation with another shooter the other day during a two camera shoot and he was in the Red camp. I then realised how much I appreciate simplicity in how I work. I just wanna do a good job and get paid.
I'm fine with S-Cinetone or S-log being the two choices one have. To me S-Cinetone works great and looks great for the corporate things I do. Some clients wants to grade and then S-log is also great. I actually like the limited amount of choices just as I only used S-log3 on my FS7.
I have both the 17-28 and 28-75. They are good lenses and the only thing missing is IS. Catalyst works but the lack of batch stabilizing is a serious miss.
I just have to zoom in a little bit more than usual to get it looking pretty and yes wider shots doesn't have the best out of focus blur. But neither does the Sony 24-105.
I have had both lenses. The 28-135 is way above the 24-105 in operation but optically both do fine. The 28-135 is the lens I use most of the time on my FX6. It makes for a very nice package and so easy to use.
All talk about raw video and getting the most out of it is fine but this camera has spoiled me in just about every aspect. Now that I even solved the poor monitor clamp I have nothing more to complain about. It's just fantastic be it Slog3 or S-Cinetone, images is the best I've seen from any...
I’ve used S-Cinetone on bright sunny days and it looks great. Sure as a baked image I have to get it right but I always have to get it right regardless of gamma used. Can Slog3 look better? Sure. It’s just a question of choice which gamma to use for each job.
I don't see the problem as you do Doug. If S-Cinetone works for some work well that's fine and when LOG is needed it's there. On my FS7 I only shot in Cine EI mode because I didn't like the images out of custom mode but on the FX6 S-Cinetone looks great so that's a big advantage to the work I do...
