If you could have a one or two day class with Barry Green and/or Jarred Land to go over the basic operation and on up to more advanced lessons on the HVX200 and different recording methods, how much would that be worth to you? I know that Barry is working on the book/DVD but even if he covers everything he can think of I'm sure many of us here would have some good/bad/dumb questions that weren't covered. I will buy the book and DVD when it comes out, but you can't ask a question to a book or DVD, you just have to hope that it gets covered. Also I learn better with hands on experience than from a Book or DVD, so I'd pay $300.00 to $500.00 or so for a good one-two day class, and if you times that by several people, it starts to become some real money for Barry and Jarred, yes?

If you think this is a good idea, just cast your vote for it here.

500.00 (Assuming my camera eventually shows up before the class)

Make it in Las Vegas and I won't care if my camera shows up or not!

Wow, is this something that is really going to happen? (Jan said something last year about a possible "mini-varicam camp."). I'd give my first born (except he eats a lot and Barry would probably want to return him). Blank check . . . sign me up!

(all humor aside, I'd really be up for that).

Whoa.

Hello.

Where did this come from?

Wild.

Well, sure, we could do that. I don't know about the price range being talked about... Maybe we make sure that whatever it costs, everyone walks away with a free copy of the HVX Book/DVD too?

Yeah im down with this too.. La might be better for more people, and im sure I can yank Barry out here for a day or two..

more people and more potential locations.

But make it TWO days, please!

Maybe Barry and Jay (Nemeth) could do a Las Vegas demo and Jarred and I could do the LA one? If enough people sign up for each.

snap, i may have to save my money to go out there and just touch an HVX. i won't be an HVX virgin anymore, but this may actually be a good experience...

2 days is a long time :)
Not really, to get a lot of coverage on the camera, maybe try lighting scenarios, greenscreen..., Show us some of your work and how you go about a shoot.

You need actors? I've got em.

Maybe host a couple vendors?

I've got a camera to donate to the cause, too, as others are offering. Keeps the cost down.

Two days isn't long at all!

I took a two day boot camp on the jVC Hd100U and only got to play with the camera for an hour or two. The rest of the time we met the guys from Cineform and Cinetech and others who showed off their cool accessories.

After the class I had to rent the camera for a weekend to decide it wasn't the camera for me.

Two days too long. And if it is, we can go home early on Sunday.

I have 2 people right now to sign up for LA. I'll even pre order the class with deposit if needed since I am so use to it now.

Work flow issues for studio and field would be nice to learn as well.

I am down for it. Two days or one if enough material could be covered in one. Moviola has offered a class but I don't think it would be much more than just an orientation to the cameras functiones. The type of thing that you could get just reading the manual or some of the many threads here. Best practices, methods of lighting and exposure to reduce noise, how play to the strengths and downplay the weakneses of this camera.

I would pay one million dollars! No, that's a lie, but I would pay a hundred or two (maybe more depending on the amount of class time).

No matter how much you know, you can always learn from others.

Would it have to be BYOHVX or can we just watch and take notes? I'd like to go, just so if i ever get one (when i ever get one, actually), I won't be completely ignorant.

I would love a Vegas one, it is only an hour and a half away, I would pay, 500 would even be ok but if it were a little cheaper that would be nice. I know that some company’s do like retreats that are training seminars in resort locations; maybe you could do it in like Zion national park for a 3 day get away. Cover camera operation, lighting, post pro, and go on day and night shoots through the park and area. Just an idea. But if you wanted to do it I could help arrange the locations and support gear. Like I said where ever it would be would be cool.
