Hero-fest? You're kidding, right?

What? You don't think you can create a character which hasn't been done before, establish a history and explanation for the powers, set up a conflict, and resolve it, all in 5 minutes? :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

Well, since you put it that way, you make it sound like a piece of cake now!

I've alredy done the script! It's gonna be the shorter short movie of the contest...

Script:

INT. ROOM WITH SO MUCH LIGHT - DAY

One guy runs through the room and jups off the window.

FADE TO BLACK

"Hero doesn't exist"

The End

:)

But I really do hate superheroes as well. I mean, I can't stand 'em! Even as a kid, I never owned one superhero comic book. I've got kind of an idea in my head about what I wanna do--I just don't know if my protagonist will be "super" enough of a hero. I like Envision's "hero" idea a lot, but I don't know if that will wash with powers that be here.

The only comics I liked when I was a kid were Tin Tin and Asterix (in French). Tin Tin didn't have superpowers, and Asterix's superpowers were fueled by drugs. :dankk2:

I don't have a problem with the concept. My brain is currently whirling through possibilities.

My unfilmed Sci-Fi script would suit with a bit of modification. After all, Superman was an alien. You could shoot a few scenes to add to "Distraction" -- the superhero hunting down the evil terrorists before they blow up the bus (and failing -- where were all the superheroes during 911?) :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

But I REALLY like Envisions concept. Let's hope they accept it!

Yeah, I was kinda thinking the same thing. That someone could have special, "alien," powers, perhaps. But I wouldn't revisit any themes I used in DISTRACTION. I'd go in a whole new direction. Actually, come to think of it, my unshot sci-fi script couldn't qualify at all. I'm thinking of something new that may work with a little tweaking. I dunno. I really don't like superheroes.

lol You can count me, in though I don't think Tipper will like doning a set of blue tights and a red cape. lol :)

Why's all this talk about Super Heros? This isn't called Superhero Fest, it's called Hero Fest.

To me, I think it would open it up even more if the theme was simply heros (see my sig for example), as I'm sure people would LOVE to take this opportunity to honor war veterans, policemen in the line of duty, firemen, doctors who went beyond the call of duty to save someone, etc.

I mean, there could be some INCREDIBLY compelling stories ... especially if the people that wouldn't normally enter because they don't dig Superheros, got in on it (i.e NBC Shooter).

Hopefully it's defined soon what a hero is, but in my mind it could be just about anything/anyone ... more of the selfless act itself. As such, I think this will blow the doors off of Zombie Fest ... and may be an incredibly uplifting & memorable event.

All that said ... am I in? Don't know. I'll have to converse with waltind.

If you check out the unofficial announcement from jarred then he said the theme was superheroes.http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=47766

My inclination is to be pretty inclusive on the themes, but I'll let Jarred weigh in as well and we'll post some more detailed info soon. Then again, it may be odd having Donate-A-Kidney Man compete against The Flaming Mutant.

Put me on the list Briceman. Another first-timer. But totally pumped. Is the name Briceman copy protected? Just kidding.

NBCshooter, there are in the comic-books a lot of so-called super-heros that haven't got any power (i.e. Batman), I think you could even start a brand new kind of super-hero without mask. Why not?

I am on the other side, I read comic-books since I was able to read, but I always preferred the classical anti-hero, Spidey, who suffers quotidian troubles when he puts out his mask.

I even invented about 50 super-heros with different powers, draw my own comic-books and wrote a lot of histories for them. Now I have to choose.

So, Briceman, of course, count me in. Thanks!
Pablo

Briceman, boy, where do you get the time?
Looks like you are in four threads at the same time! :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

Hey man, I do what I can! I have to preface this by saying I am not sure how busy my next two months of life will be... so... I might throw something together real quick, and not take time on it :(

I'm in. And don't worry - I won't create an infomercial about a little device that shoots Kryptonite. Hmmmm, wait a sec...

DRAT, you're right Silverwolf, he did say the theme was Super Hero ... better change out that banner.

Would be cool, however, to have it be more open for heros in general, but if someone's creative they can still make a killer Super Hero movie without having to be cliche' with blue/red tights, etc.
